Get to know Genevieve Joubert, Branch Manage of Express Penrose:

We're thrilled to welcome Genevieve as the new branch manager of our Penrose office! With over 13 years of experience working with Express Employment Professionals in South Africa, Genevieve brings a wealth of expertise and a fresh perspective to New Zealand.

To help you get to know her better, we caught up with Genevieve for a Q&A session. Read on to learn more about her background, insights, and plans for the future!

    1. What do you enjoy most about working in recruitment?
What I enjoy most is meeting new people. I love engaging with my clients and job seekers and building long lasting relationships. But most importantly, I find great satisfaction in helping people finding meaningful work.

    2. What inspired you to build the Express Brand in New Zealand and relocate from South Africa?
Firstly, my decision was influenced by the fact that my family was already in New Zealand. Additionally, I have a strong passion for the Express brand and its mission. I believe we can make a significant impact on the community and our clients' businesses, especially in terms of offering flexibility and tailored solutions.

    3. What have your first few weeks been like since moving over to New Zealand?
The culture and people of New Zealand have been incredibly friendly and always willing to help and offer guidance. A few things I've had to get used to include the terms "traffic lights" and "roundabouts," but the biggest adjustment has been having parcels left at the front door if I'm not home. On the positive side, I really enjoy the convenience of self-checkout!

    4. Is there any major differences between working in SA and NZ?
While the work itself is quite similar, one notable difference is getting accustomed to the local terminology. Expressions like “flick me an email” and “sweet as” are new to me, but I'm quickly getting used to them.

    5. How does your experience in recruitment, particularly in South Africa, influence your approach to the New Zealand job market?
With 13 years at Express Employment Professionals, starting from sales and eventually becoming a franchise owner, I’ve gained comprehensive experience across various roles. This extensive background equips me with the knowledge and skills needed for my new venture in New Zealand. My approach remains consistent: to meet as many people as possible and introduce them to the exceptional services offered by Express Employment Professionals.

    6. What advice would you give to someone looking to start their career in recruitment?
My advice for anyone starting a career in recruitment is to truly love what you do and enjoy working with people. Embrace the fast-paced nature of the industry, be flexible, and adapt quickly to change. If you possess these qualities, recruitment won't just be a job for you—it will become a passion.

    7. What advice would you give to anyone looking for work in New Zealand at the moment? As challenging as the market is right now, don’t give up. It will improve over time. Stay persistent and proactive—don't just sit back and wait for opportunities to come to you. Go out there and seize them.

    8. What advice would you give to all the businesses out there who haven’t yet thought about temporary staffing?
If your business hasn't yet explored temporary staffing, we encourage you to give us a call. We would love to have a conversation with you about the endless flexibility and benefits that temporary staffing offers. At Express, we tailor our services to support you and your business needs. As a locally owned and operated company with the backing of our international headquarters, we ensure that your temporary staffing needs are met, allowing you to focus on your core business.

    9. How do you approach building relationships with both clients and candidates?
My approach is straightforward: let's have meaningful conversations about your job requirements or the position you're applying for. It's all about fostering long-lasting relationships with both clients and candidates. This aligns perfectly with Express Employment Professionals' vision of helping as many people find good jobs by connecting companies with great talent.

    10. What are you most excited about in the next few months?
What excites me the most in the upcoming months is the opportunity to meet and build relationships with clients and businesses in Penrose and its surrounding areas.
